Smithfield High School Academy of Finance
A "Small Learning Community"
Smithfield's Academy of Finance is a member of the
National Academy Foundation Network.
Upon acceptance in 9th or 10th grade, students enroll in a focused
curriculum of business and finance courses enriched by field trips,
guest speakers, a paid internship, and personal relationships with the
director and faculty members. We foster a family environment and
we also promote networking and post-secondary involvement as a key benefit of membership. The Academy is
supported by an Advisory Board comprised of local Business, Community
Leaders, and Alumni. We emphasize Applied Learning, Community
Service, Business Ethics,
21st Century Skills, Technology
Use, and Student Leadership. Our newly formed National
Business Honor Society Chapter recognizes
a student's commitment to a career in Business and Finance and our
FBLA Chapter is an avenue for students to network,
organize events, and compete in annual statewide and
national skills competitions. 100% of our graduates have
enrolled in post-secondary institutions.
